PSAT

Macksville Requires all Juniors to complete the PSAT.

PSAT is practice for SAT, not ACT

PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test. It also gives a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation scholarship progams.

The PSAT/NMSQT measures critial reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills. The student's results reveal feedback on their strengths and weaknesses on the skills necessary for college study.

Junior results are entered with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and the awards will be offered in 2009. Yearly, some 55,000 students receive recognition through NMSC's programs, and about 10,500 are chosen to receive scholarships for college undergraduate's study. One must score very well to qualify. Sophomores would be taking the test as a practice in preparation for taking the test again their junior year.
